Policies & Procedures

Please read our policies and procedures before booking the course.

Cancellations due to instructor illness and emergency

If a class is cancelled, the registrant agrees to hold the organization harmless of any recourse action. The organization will make all attempts to find a substitute instructor. If no substitute instructor is found, the class is cancelled and postponed to an alternative date.

  1. Participant can take full refund or rebook course
  2. The organization will not be held responsible for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, such as (but not limited to) any pandemic that unexpectedly closes its facility.
Inclement Weather

Our organization follows the public-school cancellation protocol: To determine whether or not our class is cancelled due to inclement weather, please visit the school board of our organization’s region. If such schools in the affected region close or remain open (ignoring bus cancellations), we follow their protocol.

Recertifications

The participant’s responsible for ensuring that if they select recertification, they currently have a valid certification that has not expired. Failure to produce such documentation or incorrect documentation at the door will result in a denial of entry.

All participants who register for recertification are responsible for ensuring they are entitled to recertification. The organization holds no responsibility if participants book recertification courses when they are not entitled to a recent one. To be entitled to recertification, the existing certificate must be from the same company, must not expire and must not already be recertified (certifications can only be recertified once). No refund will be provided if a recertification course is booked.

Refunds, cancellations, and re-bookings
  1. Saint Joseph First Aid & CPR (Hereafter called organization) will be honoured refunds, cancellations, and re-bookings if at least 72 hours notice is provided. A $30 administration fee applies. The administration fee is needed to re-advertise the seat as vacant, which costs the organization money.
  2. Refunds, cancellations, and re-bookings will not be honoured if the participant has already cancelled or postponed a class for whatever reason.
  3. Re-bookings, cancellations, and refund requests due to failure to do the blended online learning component at the very last minute is not acceptable reason to rebook, cancel, or refund your course, and a rebooking fee for a total of 60% of the course fee shall apply.
  4. The blended online component must be done before the course date. It is suggested you complete the online portion one day before the course to ensure sufficient time to complete the blended online component and to ensure technical support should it arise. The organization does not provide technical support after hours on the eve of a class, and the participant is ultimately responsible for completing the blended online component before the class. For example: Janet registered for standard first aid and CPR level C on December 12 for class on December 15 at 9:00 am. She does not start the online component until 11:00 pm on December 14. She realizes there is an issue logging in and contacting the organization, only to get the voicemail, which is not read until the next business day. Janet is denied entry at the door due to no blended portion done. Ultimately, Janet needs to rebook the class and pay another 60% base fare fee. It would be unfair to expect the organization to answer calls and emails at 11:00 pm because everyone is off duty.
  5. Anyone can be denied entry or ejected during the course for behavior which is determined to be rowdy, disruptive to the class, bad-mannered, and hostile. Denied entry or ejected during the course includes (but is not limited to) disrupting the classroom for whatever reason, swearing, cursing, constant arguing, bullying, issuing threats, challenges, poor manners, pressuring staff, delaying the class due to any behaviour, not paying attention to on-site staff, not following pandemic rules by organization, municipal / provincial/federal government law, sleeping during the course, refusal to learn, a poor effort to learn, excessive chatting that disrupts the class or the student’s learning experience, excessive breaks/lunches not in accordance to the training break and meal standards, and refusal to follow instructor directives, etc. This policy includes in-person, over the phone, and via email. No refund shall be provided should this policy be exercised.
  6. Refunds are not applicable for participants who do not follow the organization’s directives and federal/provincial/municipal laws.
  7. The organization reserves the right to refuse to rebook or refund a student due to a “no show,” insufficient notice for an absence, attending the wrong venue location, or denying entry due to being late or not blended online completed. A rebooking fee of 60% of the course fee shall apply due to a “no show” or insufficient notice of at least 72 hours.
  8. All refund or rebooking requests must be emailed for proper record-keeping.
  9. In the event of a missed class due to an infectious illness, the participant must show proof of a negative Covid-19 test before coming to the class to ensure the safety of all classroom participants is not compromised. No refunds are provided if the participant refuses this rule.
  10. 100% class attendance is required to receive your certification. The door closes 30 minutes after the start time or if the course progresses past Chapter 1 or beyond. If this occurs, no refunds will be issued, and a rebooking fee shall apply.
  11. The organization reserves the right to amend its policies at any time.
